Troubleshooting
CSV Export Mostly Blank?
Here's the Fix
If your exported CSV files are coming up empty or only contain a few metrics, the most common cause is that the health data hasn't been authorized for AI Health Export in your iPhone settings. Here's how to fix it.
Why does this happen?
Apple protects your health data with a strict permissions system. Even though your iPhone is collecting data from your Apple Watch, sensors, and other apps, no third-party app can read that data until you specifically authorize each metric.
This means there are three things that need to be true before a metric shows up in your CSV export:
The data must exist on your iPhone
Your iPhone or Apple Watch must actually be recording the metric. For example, if you don't have an Apple Watch, you won't have heart rate data. If you don't log food in a nutrition app, you won't have dietary data.
The metric must be authorized for AI Health Export
You need to grant permission in your iPhone's Settings for AI Health Export to read each health metric. This is the most common reason for blank CSVs — if you skipped or missed some toggles during initial setup, those metrics won't be exported.
The metric must be included in your subscription tier
Free users can export 20 core metrics with 7 days of data. Premium users get access to all 89+ metrics with unlimited time ranges. If a metric is premium-only, you'll need to upgrade to export it.
How to authorize health metrics
Follow these steps to make sure AI Health Export has permission to read your health data. The video below walks through the entire process:
Open iPhone Settings
Go to your iPhone's Settings app. Scroll down and tap Privacy & Security.
Navigate to Health permissions
Tap Health in the Privacy & Security list. You'll see all apps that have requested access to your health data.
Tap AI Health Export
Find and tap AI Health Export in the apps list. This opens the list of every health metric the app can request access to.
Turn on the metrics you want to export
Toggle on (green) every metric you want to include in your CSV exports. You can enable all of them — AI Health Export only reads data, it never writes to Apple Health. Scroll through the entire list to make sure everything you care about is enabled.
Common mistake: During the initial app setup, Apple shows a permissions dialog where you can select which metrics to share. If you tapped "Don't Allow" or only selected a few, most metrics will be turned off. You can always fix this later in Settings as shown above.
Free vs Premium: which metrics can you export?
Even after authorizing all metrics in Settings, what you can actually export depends on your subscription. Here's the breakdown:
Free
- 20 core metrics
- Last 7 days of data
- CSV export + AI Data Guide
- 100% private, on-device processing
Includes: steps, heart rate, sleep, active energy, distance, flights climbed, resting heart rate, HRV, VO2 Max, blood oxygen, respiratory rate, weight, body fat %, workouts, and more.
Premium
$14.99 once- All 89+ metrics
- Unlimited time range (full history)
- CSV export + AI Data Guide
- 100% private, on-device processing
Adds: all nutrition data (vitamins, minerals, macros), body measurements, reproductive health, environmental metrics, mobility data, and more.
Important: Even if you authorize a premium metric in Settings (e.g., Vitamin D), it won't appear in your CSV export until you upgrade. The authorization in Settings just gives the app permission to read the data — your subscription determines which metrics are actually exported.
Quick troubleshooting checklist
If your CSV is still coming up blank after authorizing metrics, run through this checklist:
Are the metric toggles green in Settings?
Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > AI Health Export — make sure each metric you want is toggled on.
Does the data actually exist in Apple Health?
Open the Apple Health app and check if the metric has recorded data. If there's no data there, there's nothing to export.
Is the metric available on your plan?
Free plan includes 20 core metrics. If you need nutrition, body measurements, or other advanced metrics, you'll need Premium.
Is data within your selected time range?
Free users are limited to the last 7 days. If data is older, it won't appear in the export. Premium unlocks your full history.
Still having issues?
If you've authorized all your metrics and they're still not showing up, try closing and reopening AI Health Export. In rare cases, iOS needs a moment to propagate permission changes. If the problem persists, reach out to us directly.
